Acupuncture for horses

This is equine vet Rebecca’s horse Miller enjoying her acupuncture treatments in the sun. Acupuncture has been used to provide pain relief and treat a multitude of illnesses for centuries and horses seem to be particularly responsive.

It can be helpful in the management of arthritis, back pain and other causes of joint pain and lameness including providing pain relief to horses suffering from laminitis. Acupuncture has been used for skin conditions in humans and has shown to be helpful in equine sweet itch.

As you can see, horses have no trouble tolerating the thin needles. It is recommended horses have weekly treatments for 3-4 weeks followed by maintenance treatments every 4-6 weeks.

Please call us on 0191 2841711 to book an initial consultation and first treatment at £65 plus a visit fee of £31.50. Follow up treatments are £35 plus a visit fee. The visit fee is split between clients with no fee for 4 clients or more.
