The Christmas season is a time for family, food, and fun—but it can also bring hidden dangers for our pet companions. From tempting treats to tree decorations all of which can pose risks to cats and dogs. Here are some common seasonal hazards to look out for:

Christmas Treats and Toxic Foods

Many festive foods are harmful to pets: Including

Chocolate, grapes, raisins, mince pies, onions, garlic, stuffing, and alcohol

Keep your pets’ paws away from forbidden treats.

Christmas Plants

Seasonal plants are beautiful but can be toxic if eaten by our pets for example:

Poinsettia, mistletoe, holly, ivy, and lilies

Wishing you Safe and Happy Christmas!

With a few simple precautions, your pets can enjoy the festive season safely. If you’re concerned your pet has eaten something harmful or is showing signs of illness, contact us immediately our Gosforth Hospital is open 24/7 for emergencies.
