Our Commitment
At Blythman and Partners Veterinary Surgeons, we recognise the importance of protecting the environment and reducing the impact of our activities wherever possible. We are committed to providing high-quality veterinary care while working responsibly to minimise waste, conserve resources and support sustainable practices.
We aim to continually improve our environmental performance and encourage all members of our team to contribute to these efforts.
Our Environmental Objectives
We are committed to:
− Reducing waste wherever possible
− Increasing recycling throughout the practice
− Using resources such as energy, water and paper responsibly
− Choosing sustainable products and suppliers where practical
− Preventing pollution and ensuring waste is disposed of safely and legally

Waste Reduction and Recycling
We will:
− Segregate waste appropriately to maximise recycling opportunities
− Recycle paper, cardboard, plastics, metals and electronic waste where suitable facilities are available
− Reduce unnecessary printing and encourage digital communication where appropriate
− Reuse packaging materials when safe and practical
− Minimise expired stock through effective stock management
− Reduce single-use items where clinical and infection-control requirements allow
Safe Disposal of Unused Medicines
As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability, Blythman and Partners Veterinary Surgeons encourages our clients to return any unopened or out-of-date veterinary medicines to the practice for safe disposal.
Medicines should not be disposed of via household waste, sinks or toilets, as this can have harmful effects on the environment.
Where possible, we ask clients to bring unwanted medicines with them when attending routine appointments, helping to reduce unnecessary travel while ensuring medicines are disposed of responsibly.
Energy and Resource Use
We will:
− Turn off lights, equipment and appliances when not in use
− Use energy-efficient lighting and equipment where practical
− Monitor energy and water consumption and seek opportunities to reduce usage
− Encourage paperless systems and electronic record keeping where possible
Sustainable Procurement
When selecting products and suppliers, we will consider:
− Environmental credentials
− Packaging reduction opportunities
− Product durability and lifespan
− Ethical and sustainable sourcing where available
Staff Engagement
All team members are encouraged to contribute ideas and participate in initiatives that support sustainability within the practice.
Environmental sustainability forms part of our commitment to responsible veterinary practice and continual improvement.
